Make history

Volvo P1800 S, year 1965. First registration 1 July 1965, chassis (VIN) number: 14565. Colour Pearl white combined with a red leather interior and red carpet. This wonderful Volvo P1800 S was sold new in Sweden. From there the Volvo moved to Germany before the car went to the first Dutch owner in 2016. The full history is known including the names of the previous German and Dutch owners. Since 2022 the P1800 S is being enjoyed by the second Dutch owner. The Volvo P1800 was presented in 1961. Designed by Pelle Petterson, the wonderful Italian style of the P1800 was very exotic for Volvo automobiles which were renowned for reliability and safety up to this surprising introduction. The P1800 gained global fame for its starring role as Simon Templar's car in the TV series The Saint. The presented 1965 Volvo P1800 S played an important role in the 2014 German movie “Irre sind männlich” (Crazy people are male). Pictures and a trailer of this can be found via Google. This gorgeous automobile was extensively restored in Germany twenty years ago, a photo report of the works is present. During the restoration sheet metal was repaired, the car was repainted in the original colour, new (Stainless-Steel) bumpers were fitted, and the interior was given new carpet. The 2-litre Volvo B18 engine was overhauled and modified to run on lead-free petrol. Furthermore, the wiring loom was renewed, electric power steering was fitted (EZ Power Steering), and electronic ignition was fitted. This Volvo P1800 S is in a very good condition and the car drives delightfully. The over 100 hp B18 engine runs well, and the four-speed gearbox with overdrive make it possible to cruise with high speeds comfortably. The best decision was the fitment of the EZ electric power steering unit which has upgraded the steering to satisfy demanding drivers. Also fitted is a modern digital ‘retro’ radio with additional Bluetooth and a subwoofer. This Volvo P1800 S is a very good and highly desirable example. An iconic collector car that will bring a lot of driving fun to a proud new owner!

The Volvo P 1800 is undoubtedly the most elegantly, exquisitely and dynamically designed Volvo of the twentieth century. The Volvo P 1800 was designed by Per Petterson who was employed at carrosseria Frua those days. The Volvo P 1800 came onto the market in 1961 as a coupé and was initially built at Jensen’s in England. The P1800 became world-famous for the series of "The Saint" in the 1960s, with Roger Moore as Simon Templar in the leading role. After building 6000 cars in 1963, production of the P 1800 was relocated to Sweden, and the car was then named the 1800 "S" (Sverige). In September 1969, the P1800 E came onto the market with a Bosch fuel injection system, a modified dashboard and had disc brakes all around. The P1800 ES estate /coupé came onto the market in 1971.
